with some of the supposed 5.1% national unemployment rate, which should be more for those who have given up or severely underemployed, living off of temporary work assignments and contracts, the current boom seems to be insurance and sales. we are back at it again. living off of commission is not the way to go in an unstable economy where most of us have mouths to feed, mortgages, rental and credit card payments to contend with. most of us need a steady income to live off of and not some commission-based job.
i have been called for several insurance and sales jobs recently. neither of those appeal to me as i am essentially working for free until i generate a client base — and in this economy, there is no guarantee that such a client base can be generated much less sustained. most of these sales jobs already have an existing client base for the managers and owners of said companies, and they won’t give out these contracts willingly. i know that. we know that. their promises of a fulfilling career and and advancement is merely bait and nothing more.
so go onward with better opportunities…
