with the philadelphia economy the way it is right now, it is a tough to find a steady job. construction and sales are apprarently booming. i have joined the 10 percent of the unemployed. it’s been six months of no moving forward other than establishing a travel agency of my own. it was done out of necessity. president obama still has not motivated small businesses or businesses in general to go on a hiring spree — before the 2008 financial meltdown. obamacare has forced businesses to cut back some long standing employees including myself. i was the product of deceit and switch-and-bait at the workplace. i wasn’t alone.
still six months has passed…on the bright side, i have started my own travel agency franchise and am technically employed. however, reality is that it will take at least six months before i generate a profit, but realistically, i am looking at another twelve months to develop a sufficient client base. like most people, my unemployment benefits has ceased. and like most people, we are burning our savings and our 401k to stay alive in this tepid economy. and like most people, you learn who your real friends are. in the meantime, i was offered several contract jobs but only one came through.
starting a franchise is difficult even with the support. running a business takes a lot of work, grit and skin to make it through. on the other side, i am delving into networking and marketing like never before. unemployment has hit me and others hard.
how have you been through your unemployment? are you using the internet at your public library or on your phone? are you working temporary or contract jobs?
