in the current state of philadelphia’s labor economy, it seems we’re stuck with either construction or sales. well, nothing falls short of being an insurance agent with a serving-size life as insurance companies in and around philadelphia are hiring. that being said, you are holding on for dear life as insurance companies have inundated the philadelphia economy. do you think you can prospect enough business in philadelphia to make it happen? not likely as business are either downsizing or closing shop altogether.
on the other side, b2b and b2c sales jobs are popping up everywhere. before you go out and shop these jobs, be careful. some of these jobs are mere contractor jobs without benefits and highly dependent on commission. if that is the case, you can surely do better. even a team member job at a fast food restaurant has better and certain pay in the short term. a lot of these jobs will offer you the moon, but you’ll need to live on savings for a while until you get a hit. in short, a lot of these will be job scams, promising a lot but not offering much. if you’re going to be a contractor sales agent, you’re better off starting your own business or even your own sales business. at least the sales will be directed at you in its entirety.
what do you think of philadelphia’s job market? do you have a steady job? are you looking for another?
