transparency (and other business catch-phrases): the new thing to do in business

eknme thinks transparency is the new word of the year for 2015. it’s something to sound cool when you’re attending business classes and in the corporate world. it’s kind of like when you attempt to be popular by acting and dressing like the popular kids.  whatev.

like batman in batman begins, it’s not what you say that matters, it’s what you do.  you can say all these catch-phrases like solopreneur, d!conomy or transparency, but it’s all bull when it comes down to it.  are you trying to be the popular kid that follows whatever bull comes out of someone’s ass? or are you going to try to set your own standards, your own path to business?  eknme cannot reiterate this any more: it’s always up to you.  it’s the fate that you choose to make.

eknme magazine would rather be the bull in the china shop rather than the china shop.  it would be the preferred route to take. eknme thinks you should too.

transparency is nice to say, but eknme disagrees with it as a business model. you aren’t transparent with your friends or family and disclose all the skeletons in your closet, do you?  be honest.  if you don’t do it at home, why would you do it at work? in eknme, transparency is an illusion. much like agent smith in the matrix, transparency is a word of manipulation in business. as long as you appear to disclose everything, the masses, the employees, will be satisfied with the results. however, once the masses smell a rat, they will be the first to lynch the rat. risk vs. reward for your business — now that doesn’t sound too appealing, does it?

how about we work on stained-glass windows instead of transparent ones?  thinking creatively with multi-colored panes of glass is a much more interesting way to go.
