small business expo: two scams and probably more

for those wanting to start their own business, a small business expo is a good place to get your feet wet.  you gain perspective of the financial and technical resources you need.  however, in light of this, eknme would suggest that there are some things and some people that you avoid outright.

it is better to get to the expo early as the snake oil salespersons have not awoken yet.  from eknme’s experience, the sharks don’t come out until much later in the expo. eknme would say after 12 noon.

two notable artists of their own trade are below and should be avoided:

powerteam international. ever get the feeling of being surrounded by snakes?  well, this is it.  bill walsh, so-called america’s small business expert, exploit the weak.  they do use plants during the training sessions. eknme has personally experienced such plants and have the emails to prove it.

main street host. they’ll bring out some nice-looking guys and gals to the trade show, and they will network the whole entire convention room.  just trust your gut and run!

did you get bitten by either of these two? please feel free to share.

if you know more cons during these small business expos, please feel free to expand.
